This special feature presents the activities of Tokyo-based graphic designer and art director Yui Takada in two parts, as suggested by the title, “Figure and Attitude”. The first part of this feature, “Figure”, will focus on a number of Takada’s commissioned graphic design works, which includes the ones produced by Allright Graphics. The studio was established in 2006 with his father Osamu Takada and his sister Mai Hojo, and focuses on logo design, branding, advertising, and printed matter. In the following year, the letterpress printing studio Allright Printing was established, working with a modern interpretation of typographic printing, and in 2017, Takada started the music label Allright Music. In the second half of this feature, “Attitude”, the designer’s “figure”, which was outlined in the first half, will be further discussed by those familiar with his approach and thought process: the clients who commissioned his design work and art direction as well as his colleagues and fellow supporters. This section also includes the practices of both domestic and East Asian designers, considering the direction that designers should take in the future.
